The news is out and we’re proud to announce that we’ve been shortlisted for the Innovation in Recycling Equipment and Vehicle Design category at this year’s MRW National Recycling Awards – the UK’s leading celebration of progress and achievement in the recycling and resource management sector.
This is great recognition for the hard work of all our team, for which we’d like to say a big thank you. However, beyond this we’re extremely pleased to see the growing importance of innovation in tackling food waste get such focus, particularly developing effective depackaging solutions that address real-world, practical challenges.
Innovation that enables change
Our nomination comes from the successful relaunch of the compact version of our depackaging machine – the LR model – designed specifically to support more efficient food waste recycling. This machine enables the separation of food content from its packaging, allowing both elements to be processed in sustainable ways. While the organic fraction can be utilised for energy recovery or composting, the remaining packaging materials are cleaned and prepared for onward recycling.
Like our core models, the LR model ensures that nothing goes to waste but with a focus on accessibility and practicalities.
Compact design for real-world sites
A common challenge we see waste operators face is space, and as recycling initiatives and legislation continue to expand, operators need solutions that deliver high throughput without requiring extensive additional space.
Our LR depackaging machine directly addresses this challenge. By reducing the overall size and complexity of the equipment, sites can process more food waste efficiently, without increasing their footprint. This allows operators to remain compliant with increasing recycling targets and government agendas, while also maximising their operational capacity.
Supporting the Future of Recycling
The current level of government activity around recycling and food waste reduction targets is high and we’re seeing perhaps the most aggressive pushes towards waste reduction and sustainability yet – and rightly so. But they will only succeed if supported by practical, innovative technologies that make compliance achievable on the ground. Depackaging equipment is an essential part of the waste management infrastructure, and by investing in compact, efficient, and reliable depackaging solutions, we’re helping to future-proof the industry. Operators can meet the rising demand for food waste processing while ensuring packaging is recycled correctly. Ultimately, this supports the shift away from landfill and incineration, towards recovery, reuse, and a fully circular system.
